How to get the Optimum CG in an Airplane, and why is Important!
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
This is a test that is totally worth doing, most planes fly with a forward CG, and you need to compensate with power and elevator on approaches or during turns, need to add power and trim all the way back to avoid running out of elevator at slow speeds, this will make your plane fly beautiful, I am not an instructor. so do it at your own risk. Love your videos. so many people have inane, horrible music, but yours embellishes rather than annoys. Great choice. Wonder when the first engine upgrade was stuffed into the 170? Was it always the O-360 or was a Lycoming O-320 ever tried? With a 160HP STC would it help over the stock 6 banger? Anyway, dream plane for sure.

Some of your "coordinated" turns are epic. You hit the rudder first and use the yaw coupling to help you roll into it, so the actually turn starts before you have ever rolled. Awesome to watch. Bold as brass though. Do that rudder kick a little too slow and....

What is that contraption on the dash in some of the shots? Looks like a HUD, with integrated roll indicator. I'm hoping it shows your airspeed or something, cuz that would be a great place to have it on final approach!

I went out in my 182P and practiced this the other day. I was able to land (stopped) in appx 850'. I practiced on a 6700' runway in light wind conditions. (KSRB). Started with slow flight over the runway a few times, then a stabilized approach @ DMMS transitioning to just about slow flight on final, flaps 40, I'm gonna continue working on it.👍

as our clubs are a nightmare of internal fights and peivate fees are a nightmare in Europe i consider leaving for an overseas country for more or less free UL flight,...this easily balances out some 3000 penaty tax for leaving Austria as a retiree, others would even pay more...depending on the pension modula... so my medicla was an expensive experience but told me: i.m in better hsape than most who want to fly! and i should really start it...but 20 k in Austria for a PPL and 3k per year minimum for the minimum hours is a joke! and 300 for a medical...when i balance that out i can go overseas, pay an extra of 3000/ year as a penalty( socially justified extra tax...for keeping retirees in the country! ...some have even twice as much! ) and simply fly an UL at my new home...which i build myself...this way i basically balance the whole 60k for the next 20 years on extra tax! and have fun and good weather instead idiotic rules and winter half a year...i hate Austria! i hate EU, you are so free over there, hire an instructor and have fun! for 1/2 the costs we have in Europe! stay safe! i learn mire on your videos than on Easa books!
